Research Areas

Meiosis is a specialized cell division process that generates haploid gametes form diploid germ cells. Defects in meiosis can cause errors in meiotic chromosome segregation, which are associated with infertility, miscarriages, birth defects, and tumorigenesis in humans. The structural morphology of chromosomes undergoes significant changes during meiosis, corresponding to a series of critical events include paring between homologous chromosomes, synaptonemal complex assembly linkage and homologous recombination. Our research group focuses on the Caenorhabditis elegans system and combines cell biology, genetics, proteomics and other methods to explore the structural basis and biological significance of meiotic chromosome dynamic changes.
